I was born in 1976 in Kham Tsawa Pashoe, in eastern Tibet. As a boy, I joined some of the most prominent monasteries in my home town and in Lhasa where I studied Buddhist philosophy. In 1997, I came as an exile to India. I completed my schooling at the Tibetan Transit School, while also attending other education centers. In 2003, I joined the Khawa Karpo Tibet Culture Center (KTC) as a volunteer reporter and distributor of the newspaper ‘Tibet Express’. In February 2006, I was enlisted as a staff member at the KTC head office in Dharamsala. Since then, I have been working as an administration manager and reporter. I have also been involved in social work in the Tibetan exile community since 2003 when I became a member of Lha Charitable Trust ( A Non-profit Social Work Organization) I am also a wildlife activist and have been working with the Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI) since 2004. Supported by WPSI, The Fund for Tiger and the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), I organized a wildlife conservation photographic exhibition during the 2006 Amravati Kalachakra teaching of H.H. the Dalai Lama, under the banner of the Khawa Karpo Tibet Culture Center. In August 2006, I lead a year-long WPSI campaign to raise awareness about wildlife in the various Tibetan settlements and schools in India and Nepal. Both projects have met with considerable success. In July 2008, I published my first book in the Tibetan language, titled ‘International Environment and Wildlife Conservation Education’. The book is a first of its kind, providing members of the Tibetan community with a unique opportunity to learn more about their environment, the wildlife they share it with and the significance of conservation. Currently, I am the Director at Lha Charitable Trust ( A Non-profit Social Work Organization) and a field officer with WPSI. Cheif Editor of Tibet Nature website. |
